When I get a new freelance assignment or an email from an editor who wants to publish one of my essays, many months elapse before my words finally land on the printed page.

Here’s the latest – The Epoch Times Food Section includes The Cookbook Caper, a personal essay about my family’s culinary history. My mom’s reaction: “Whoever thought the apricot cookies would end up in the newspaper?”

This is one time my family was quite happy to have one of our stories "out in public." And we all want readers to know that the accompanying picture is not our mother! (We had no control over the stock photo).
