Hot Off The Press
When I get a new freelance assignment or an email from an editor who wants to publish one of my essays, many months elapse before my words finally land on the printed page.
It’s just the nature of the business. So, Hot Off the Press means just what it says. It’s my latest published work. Enjoy.
Three More New Articles
I have an eclectic selection of publications to share this month …
Two New Essays
On the off chance that you don’t recognize her name, Erma Bombeck was a renowned humorist in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s who entertained millions of readers — including my Mom and me — with her newspaper column, At Wit’s End. She wrote about the ups and downs of life as a wife and mother with wit, warmth and relatability, and set the bar high for all humor essayists who want to follow in her footsteps. I’m thrilled to appear on the blog.
Two New Articles
I never would have imagined simultaneously writing Covid-related stories for two different associations, but that’s what happened.
For Connect magazine, published by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, I explored how those institutions can continue their commitment to global conservation in the wake of the pandemic.
And for Museum magazine, published by the American Alliance of Museums, I wrote about how several institutions engaged their communities during the months in which they were closed. One hint: the story about corresponding with cats was my favorite.
Off the Beaten Path: Discovering the Wilds
I love getting the cover story! Here’s the latest from Connect, the member magazine of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Once travel is back on our agenda and we’re able to visit my family in Pittsburgh, I want to take a field trip to visit The Wilds in Ohio. It sounds like a very cool place.
